TBI arrests woman in fatal Whitwell pawn shop robbery, fire

TBI agents have jailed a woman in Marion County they say robbed the Valley Pawn Brokers in Whitwell, Tenn., killed the owner and set the business on fire on May 17.

Angela Denise Kilgore is charged in connection with the death of pawn shop owner 72-year-old Jerry Don Ridge, according to TBI officials.

During the course of the case, investigators developed information that led to Kilgore, 51, as the individual responsible for Ridge's death during a robbery at the pawn shop, officials said. The investigation further revealed she was additionally responsible for the subsequent fire at the business, set in an effort to destroy potential evidence in the case.

On Monday, the Marion County Grand Jury returned indictments on Monday charging Kilgore with one count of first-degree murder, one count of felony murder, one count of especially aggravated robbery, one count of employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, one count of aggravated arson, one count of theft, and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Kilgore remains held at the Marion County Jail.
