Brush fire jumps breaks, burns near Roberts Mill Road

A brush fire continues to burn for a fourth day on the side of Signal Mountain.

The fire has jumped breaks from the five acres burning Monday and is now burning on the northeast and southwest sides of the mountain near Roberts Mill Road, according to Tennessee forestry officials.

The area burning is woodlands and no homes are currently threatened, said Hamilton County Emergency Services spokeswoman Amy Maxwell.

No injuries have been reported and no evacuations are necessary.

Bulldozers are creating new fire breaks and a helicopter will again make water drops on the fires off the bluffs.

Responding agencies include: Walden's Ridge Emergency Services, Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department, Lone Oak Volunteer Fire Department, Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department, STARS and Bradley County Fire Rescue. Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department is monitoring the valley area.

The Signal Mountain Fire Department will continue covering all of mountain for any additional emergency calls.
