A Whitfield County sheriff's deputy and two inmates were injured Monday when the patrol car they were riding in ran a stop sign and crashed into a trailer being towed by a truck.

Deputy Rosalia Pacheco-Hernandez was driving east on Georgia State Route 52 in Hall County when she crossed into a four-way intersection, slamming the trailer behind a Dodge Ram 3500, according to an incident report. The patrol car burst into flames.

She had been transporting two inmates - Hillary Marie Mchan, 30, and Amanda Nichole Townsend, 33 - when the wreck happened.

Pacheco-Hernandez told state patrol officers she did not see the stop sign, according the report.

The three women were transported to Northeast Georgia Health System with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck, 57-year-old Steven Lawrence Gallo, of Lake Worth, Fla., was not injured, according to the incident report.

Pacheco-Hernandez received a traffic warning, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
