The two men who robbed a federal credit union at gunpoint on Tuesday forced employees to lie face down on the ground while they stole about $19,000 from the teller drawers, court records show.
One man got away and is still on the run. He is considered armed and dangerous, police said.
The second suspect, who was arrested after a car chase and foot pursuit, has been identified as 38-year-old Quincy Richards.
Police believe Richards and the unidentified suspect fled the Trust Federal Credit Union on Gunbarrel Road in a silver Jeep after the robbery at 12:06 p.m.
An off-duty police officer spotted the Jeep and gave chase. The Jeep crashed on Jarnigan Road and both men fled on foot. A witness told police he saw the men dropping cash as they fled.
Investigators later found money and a gun inside the Jeep.
Police believe Richards ran across Interstate 75 - multiple citizens called 911 to report a man running across the road, records show. Officers found Richards on Hickory View Lane, sweaty, out of breath and with "several cuts and scrapes from jumping fences," according to an affidavit.
He told police he'd gotten himself into a "messed up situation."
The second suspect carjacked a woman and escaped in her Lexus. He has not been apprehended.
Richards was charged with aggravated robbery. He was booked into the Hamilton County Jail and is being held on a $110,000 bond.
He has a long criminal history in Hamilton County with charges dating back to 1996, the year he turned 18. Those charges range from traffic citations to possession of cocaine and assault.
He was last arrested on Oct. 1 for driving on a revoked license.
