Chattooga fire ruled accidental

State Fire Marshal investigators closed the case on the mobile home fire in Chattooga County that claimed the lives of six people, including four children.

Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner Ralph Hudgens said in a news release that an accident led to the flames that engulfed the home at 1120 Airport Road, located north of Trion, Ga. Miron Bradley Jones, 29, installed a wooden stove to heat a room on Sunday.
"We believe he installed the heater too close to the wall," Communications Director Glenn Allen said, "which ignited the wall."
The fire began around 10:30 p.m. Sunday. In addition to Miron Jones, the accident claimed five lives: 22-year-old Demi Josephine Jones, 3-month-old Olivia Josephina Jones, 3-year-old Lola Rosanna Jones, 5-year-old Clair McKenzie Jones and 5-year-old Jada Marie Kendrick.
Kendrick was a cousin to the other children.

According to the release, investigators could not tell if the Joneses had a fire alarm because the flames had damaged the house too much.
