Fire crews extinguished flames Wednesday at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, following a kitchen fire that prompted the evacuation of hundreds of guests and employees from the iconic hotel.

One firefighter suffered heat exhaustion and was being treated, Nashville fire officials said. There were no other reported injuries in the blaze, which was reported just before noon at the hotel at 2800 Opryland Drive and caused major smoke damage to the building.

Jenny Barker, a spokeswoman for the hotel, said the fire started in a kitchen fire at the Old Hickory Steakhouse restaurant in the Delta Atrium.
