Suspect arrested in Dayton Pike shooting

A man was shot at a gas station on Dayton Pike Monday afternoon and a suspect is in custody, according to the Hamilton County sheriff's department.

Officers responded to the BP Gas Station at 13424 Dayton Pike about 5:15 p.m. and found Adam Brown, 33, with a gunshot wound, according to the sheriff's department. The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he continues to receive medical treatment.

The gas station is located about three miles north of where U.S. 27 and Tennessee Highway 111 split.

At approximately 7 p.m., Donald Stuard II, 29, was arrested at a residence in Rhea County as a suspect in the shooting by Hamilton County Sheriff's Office detectives with the assistance of Rhea County Sheriff's Office deputies. Information obtained from eye witnesses of the shooting provided law enforcement with key information that led to the arrest of Stuard.

Stuard II will be booked at the Hamilton County Jail.
