R&B singer and Chattanooga native Usher began his concert tonight at 8:15.
His first two songs were "Oh My God" and "Caught Up." He took the stage in an all-white outfit as the crowd on the football field cheered.
"Chattanooga," he said, "it's been a minute since I've been on this field. But I just want you to know, I got love for you."
The crowd cheered some more as Usher talked about Southern, home cooked food. Then, he sang another song about love.
Usher performed tonight as part of a concert series sponsored by State Farm. He did not sell tickets, and only people who were invited could attend.
Still, people lined the streets to listen outside the fence that rings the field.
People who donated art supplies to Hamilton County Schools were among those who were invited to the concert.
