Chattanooga police confirmed that a motorist collided with two bicyclists on Bailey Avenue on Friday night.

Police spokesman Victor Miller said the two cyclists were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries from the incident.

It happened at approximately 8:39 p.m. in the 1600 block of Bailey Avenue.

Miller said the driver has not been charged yet, but that the incident is still under investigation and charges are still possible.

Both bicyclists had front and rear reflectors, Miller said.

M.L. King Boulevard and Bailey Avenue are being considered for a "road diet" project that would potentially bring bike lanes to the streets by taking away space from automobile traffic.

Several advocates of the "road diet" project from the M.L. King and Highland Park neighborhoods voiced their support for the proposal at Tuesday's City Council meeting.

This is a developing story. Stay with the Times Free Press for more details.
