Warrants have been obtained for the Erlanger patient who stole an ambulance and fled into Marion County before being stopped atop Monteagle.

Officer Rob Simmons with the Chattanooga Police Department said he didn't know if the warrants had been served and didn't have any information on the suspect's identity as of Sunday afternoon.

Lt. John Harmon with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said the THP supported Marion County and Jasper officers who pursued the fleeing driver on Interstate 24 to exit 135, where he stopped at the entrance to a gated community.

A Marion County dispatcher confirmed the man was in jail there on Sunday afternoon.

"The only thing we did was arrest him after we pursued him for 25 miles," the dispatcher said. "There was no confrontation, no damage to the vehicle, everything's good to go."

It wasn't known when the suspect would be returned to Hamilton County.
