Police identify man shot in Brainerd Tunnel

UPDATE: A 19-year-old male arrived at a local hospital after being shot in the Brainerd Tunnel on Tuesday afternoon, prompting Chattanooga police to shut down part of the tunnel temporarily for investigation.

Adrian Williams suffered a minor gunshot wound and walked into a local hospital just before 3:30 p.m. He told police he was driving westbound through the tunnel when he was struck by gunfire from a passing vehicle.

At 4:30 p.m. officers could be seen walking the closed, westbound half of the tunnel, placing markers next to spent shell casings.

The tunnel has since reopened, according to reports.

No suspect information was available, but members of the violent crime bureau are following all actionable leads. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 423-698-2525.
