"Every day you're ducking down, not knowing where the bullets are coming from,"
Police say two people were shot around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday on Windsor Street in Chattanooga.
The victims, who have not been identified, received injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Investigators walked in and out of a brick house on the corner of Windsor and North Willow streets shortly after the shooting. Four shell casings lay in the road, three on the sidewalk and more in the grass outside the home.
Witnesses said two suspects were involved in the attack, but police have not been able to identify them. Both suspects fled before police arrived.
A woman who lives in the neighborhood said she heard more than six shots. She asked not to be identified out of fear for her safety.
Gunshots are common in the Avondale area, she said.
"Every day you're ducking down, not knowing where the bullets are coming from," she said.
Her daughter doesn't allow her grandchildren to spend the night with her because of the violence, the woman added.
"It's stupid, stupid violence," she said.
Nearby, two young children played in a yard just outside the yellow crime scene tape that looped around the scene.
