Several crashes have been reported on I-75 and across the Chattanooga area as snow falls and roads slicken.

Traffic cameras show four wrecks on I-75 near mile markers 2, 7 and 9 going both northbound and southbound.

The roadway remains open but there are lane closures throughout the area, and the shoulder is blocked near Exit 2.

Chattanooga Police Chief Fred Fletcher is asking people to stay off the roads if they can, and for those who must drive, to drive slowly and carefully. Elevated roads and bridges are beginning to ice over, he tweeted.

The public works department is sending salt truck to deal with the ice.

Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputies have closed W Road and Roberts Mill Road temporarily due to freezing conditions, according to a release from the sheriff's office. The roads will remained closed throughout the night and will reopen in the morning, weather permitting, according to the release.
