Man injured in early morning East Ridge house fire

A house fire was reported about 12:10 a.m. Wednesday at the 5900 block of Welworth Avenue, according to a news release from East Ridge Fire Chief Mike Williams.

East Ridge firefighters and police officers arrived at the residence to find the occupants outside and light smoke coming from the house.

An occupant had extinguished the fire and received burns to his body. He was transported by Lifeguard Ambulance to Erlanger hospital, where his condition is unknown.

It appeared the victim had been cooking and a grease fire started on the stove top. He used water to extinguish the fire and received burns. No other injuries were reported.

The residence had minor damage and the cause appears to be accidental.
