Fishermen discovered a body floating in the Tennessee River today about 11 a.m., according to police.

The body was found along the east bank of the river off Amnicola Highway. Authorities removed it from the river using the boat ramp in the Tennessee Riverpark around 12:30 p.m.

Police have not said whether the body is a male or female, or if foul play is suspected. Police also could not say the race of the body. The Hamilton County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death and attempt to identify the body.

On Thursday, authorities searched the banks of the river as part of a search for two missing people, police said. One was Wallace Warfield, who was reported missing on Dec. 28.

Police could not say whether the body recovered is related to either missing person case.
