Police chased a gun-toting man through Hamilton Place Mall on Saturday after he allegedly attempted to use a stolen credit card.

Officers apprehended Erwin Rogers, 22, and charged him with with eight crimes, including possession of a firearm during commission or attempt of a crime, according to a police news release.

Erwin was attempting to make a purchase when officers shouted at him to stop. Rogers then pushed people away as he fled up an escalator, police said.

An officer patrolling another area of the mall helped slow Erwin down. Officer spotted a handgun under his clothing as they arrested him.

The mall bans firearms on its property.

The arrest is the third incident at the mall since November when two people were shot outside on Black Friday. Several people were also injured after fireworks were set off during a robbery attempt in December.

It is the third arrest on Rogers' record since he turned 18. He was arrested in 2013 for aggravated burglary at someone's home and for theft of more than $1,000. He was arrested in 2015 for possession of marijuana.
