A man wanted for allegedly trying to have sex with a minor girl and failing to tell his girlfriend that he was HIV positive turned himself in to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday.

Troy McCallie, 49, briefly became one of the sheriff's 'Top 12 Most Wanted' fugitives this week.

He faces multiple charges, including solicitation of a minor and criminal exposure to the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

McCallie's girlfriend told deputies she realized McCallie was HIV positive after she found medicines used to treat the virus among his things in her home. Deputies reviewed McCallie's medical records to confirm the woman's suspicions.

The pair had been having unprotected sex for over a year, and McCallie never told her that he was infected with the virus, according to deputies.

McCallie is also accused of assaulting the woman's daughter on Jan. 5.

The daughter, a minor, told deputies that McCallie came into her room while she was sleeping and woke her up by rubbing her back early that morning. Wearing only a bathrobe, he then jumped on top of her and pinned her to the bed while the girl struggled to call her mother, who was just leaving work.

The mother's cell phone went to voicemail and recorded the girl screaming for McCallie to get off her and to stop. Deputies said McCallie left the room after he realized the voicemail was recording.

McCallie was convicted of aggravated rape in 1998 and is a registered sex offender. He was booked into the Hamilton County Jail and remained in custody on Thursday.

In addition to solicitation of a minor and criminal exposure to HIV, McCallie faces charges of assault, vandalism, violation of the sex offender registry.

Knowingly exposing someone to HIV is a felony in Tennessee and can result in between three and 15 years in prison and as much as a $10,000 fine.
