Strong storms, tornadoes possible in Alabama through the weekend

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The National Weather Service says strong storms and isolated tornadoes are possible across Alabama in coming days.

Forecasters say a wide part of the state could experience isolated tornadoes and winds up to 60 mph beginning Thursday afternoon. The storms could continue coming in waves through the weekend.

The weather service's Storm Prediction Center says Birmingham, Mobile and Montgomery could all be affected.

The center says all of Alabama with the exception of the state's eastern corners and extreme northern areas are at a marginal risk for severe weather.
