UTC employee arrested, charged after stealing $2,500 from J.C. Penney

A UTC employee has been arrested and charged with theft of property over $1,000, according to Chattanooga Police.

Jason Dewayne Harville, 32, worked at the store and had stolen approximately $2,500 in cash from June 2016 to July 2017, according to Doerian Johnson, the asset protection manager for J.C. Penney.

CPD Detective Kerns arrived at 2100 Hamilton Place Blvd. on Tuesday to find Harville in custody after having confessed to Johnson.

Johnson told Kerns that Harville has also provided him with a written and signed statement of confession.

Harville is the director of student transition programs at UTC.
