Chattanooga man in critical condition after being shot, suspect on the loose

Chattanooga police say a man is in critical condition after being shot this afternoon.

Police responding to a 12:30 p.m. call found the injured man at 110 O'Neal Street. He was taken to a local hospital.

The suspect fled on foot, Chattanooga police Sgt. Victor Miller said, and police are working to gather information on that person.

At around 2 p.m., crime scene tape still closed off nearly the entire street between Cleveland Avenue and Blackford Street, and neighbors were seen watching the investigation from their porches within the blocked off area. Investigators were seen entering and exiting a home on the street.

The Violent Crime Bureau are investigating. Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call he Chattanooga Police Department at 423-698-2525. Persons may remain anonymous.
