A member of the Grundy County School Board was jailed Tuesday night on charges of resisting arrest, coercion of a witness, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, indecent exposure and making false reports or statements.

Grundy County officials at 2:57 a.m. Tuesday went to the Pelham, Tenn., home of Grundy County School Board member Amanda Kasey Kilgore Anderson, 34, after a 911 call from an unknown male caller who reported a domestic situation there, Chief Deputy Tony Bean said. Bean provided a statement on the incident and arrest.

"The call was lost and dispatch pinged the phone because the caller once called back would not give his name and address. Upon pinging the phone, an address was obtained," Grundy officials said in a statement.

The term "pinging," refers to a signal sent to a cellphone to cause it to respond, helping law enforcement officers locate the address where a call originated.

"Deputies responded to the residence in Pelham and found evidence of a domestic situation that had occurred and encountered a female subject who became uncooperative. She was subsequently arrested for resisting arrest, public intoxication, indecent exposure, false reports, disorderly conduct, and coercion of a witness. She was transported to the Grundy County Sheriff's Office," officials said.

A call to a number listed for Anderson on the Grundy County Board of Education website was answered by a woman who said she would relay a request for comment to Anderson, but no one returned the call by press time.

Officials in the Grundy County Circuit Court Clerk's Office said Tuesday afternoon that a defamation lawsuit was filed last week against Anderson by Director of Schools Jessie Kinsey and Grundy County Board of Education Chairman Robert Hill Foster Jr., seeking a total of up to $500,000 in compensatory and punitive damages, according to court records.

Bean said Tuesday he knew of no connection between the suit and the incident in Pelham.

The suit is related to Facebook comments about Kinsey and Foster posted by Anderson on the page belonging to the group "Grundy County Advisory Committee," the suit states.

Anderson was elected to the school board on Aug. 7, 2014, according to Grundy County election records. She had not held public office before.

Anderson faces an arraignment on the charges on July 13, officials said.
