Saturday night shooting injures person in Highway 58 parking lot

One person was shot in a parking lot at the 4400 block of Highway 58 near the Hungry House restaurant on Saturday night, according to a news release from Chattanooga police.

The victim's injuries are not life-threatening, and his identity is being withheld due to safety concerns.

The 911 call came just after 11 p.m., and upon arrival, police spoke to an off-duty Chattanooga State Community College security officer. The officer told police he saw someone shooting at some people inside a vehicle, and he shot at the suspect.

Not long after the call, a victim arrived at a hospital by a personal vehicle with a gunshot wound.

The victim told police that multiple people shot at him from a passing vehicle while in the parking lot, and he returned fire.
