Chattanooga police arrest two suspected carjackers after chase, crash

Two carjacking suspects were arrested Wednesday evening after a police pursuit that ended when the suspects crashed on an off-ramp on I-75.

The incident began when a carjacking was reported about 6:30 p.m. near the 6000 block of Cornelison Road, according to a news release from Chattanooga Police Department.

An officer responding to the call observed the suspect vehicle, a 2005 Chevy Cobalt, fleeing the scene, traveling north on Lee Highway. Police chased the suspects to the I-75 northbound off-ramp at Shallowford Road. There, the Cobalt exited the ramp at high speed and lost control, striking the rear of another vehicle stopped at a red light.

Police arrested Anthony Duckett, 35, and Emily Baggett, 25, and emergency responders treated victims at the scene for minor injuries.

Police asked that anyone with information regarding the incident call 423-698-2525. "The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available," the release states.
