A longtime Hutcheson Medical Center employee will now be in charge of CHI Memorial Hospital Georgia.

The hospital announced last week that Angie Hullander will step into the role of administrator and special operations leader at the Fort Oglethorpe campus, located on Gross Crescent Circle. Hullander has worked at that site for more than two decades, including through two company changes in the last two years.

Hullander's ascension comes as CEO Jessica Long departs. She will resign Friday and join her husband in Raleigh, N.C., according to a news release from CHI Memorial. Long came to the hospital in December 2015, when ApolloMD began managing Hutcheson.

CHI Memorial praised Long for overseeing the hospital through accreditation surveys, an upgrade of radiology equipment and the implementation of more electronic medical records.

Long "helped breathe new life into a facility that had been shuttered and was in bankruptcy," CHI Memorial Chief Operating Officer Janelle Reilly said. "She assembled a team of passionate physicians and health care professionals to develop a vision for a new future and set out to restore the community's faith in the quality of care being delivered."

Hullander worked in Hutcheson's cardiopulmonary department for more than 20 years. In 2010, she became the director of cardiopulmonary services. In 2015, she became the administrator of physician services and development.

In December 2015, while Hutcheson was in bankruptcy, ApolloMD purchased the hospital for $4.2 million, renaming it Cornerstone Medical Center. While Long became CEO, Hullander was moved to the role of chief operating officer.

About three months ago, CHI Memorial purchased Cornerstone Medical Center. In addition to the main campus in Fort Oglethorpe, which dates back to the 1950s, CHI Memorial plans to reopen Hutcheson's former ambulatory surgery and cancer center on Battlefield Parkway.

Hullander did not respond to a call seeking comment for this story.
