Two people shot overnight in Chattanooga

Two people were shot overnight in Chattanooga.

A juvenile girl was shot near the 1000 block of North Willow St. at approximately 3:30 a.m. Saturday, according to a release from the Chattanooga Police Department. She was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

An hour later, police responded to a shooting near the 4100 block of Fagan Street. Corey Birt, 31, was the victim and was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Birt told police he was a passenger in a vehicle when he was shot.

The shootings occurred about 5 and a half miles apart. Police have not said whether they believe the incidents were related.
