Tractor-trailer carrying explosives catches fire, shuts down part of Interstate 24

Chattanooga fire officials say the trailer was transporting explosives and it was fully involved when crews arrived.

Interstate 24 eastbound remains closed after an overnight tractor-trailer fire near the Market Street exit.

Two of the four lanes of Interstate 24 eastbound are shut down, with traffic diverted to alternate routes, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

Eastbound lanes will not re-open until later this evening, according to a local alert from the Chattanooga Police Department.
