LSU Defensive Coordinator John Chavis was named the 2011 Broyles Award winner, given to the top assistant coach in the nation. The award, named for legendary Arkansas head coach and athletic director Frank Broyles, was presented to at the Little Rock Rotary Club meeting at The Peabody Hotel in downtown Little Rock. The other finalists were former Arkansas Offensive Coordinator Garrick McGee — who was named the head coach at Alabama-Birmingham last weekend — along with Wisconsin Offensive Coordinator Paul Chryst, Michigan Defensive Coordinator Greg Mattison and Alabama associate head coach/linebackers coach Sal Sunseri.
