BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) - Pilots for two state-run Argentine airlines are on strike, stranding thousands of passengers in the capital of Buenos Aires.

More than 30 international and local flights have been cancelled or delayed, including routes to cities such as Miami, Caracas and Bogota. The strike affects Aerolineas Argentinas and Austral.

Union leader Pablo Biro says the pilots want a 35 percent pay raise and the elimination of some taxes.

Aerolineas Argentinas called the strike disproportionate and unreasonable, saying the pilots have a contract that extends through September.
