LOS ANGELES (AP) - Testimony has concluded in the trial of an Ohio man charged with stalking Gwyneth Paltrow.

Dante Soiu (Soy-YOU) was one of the final witnesses Thursday in the four-day trial. He testified in his own defense in a case in which he is charged with stalking the actress by sending her several messages and packages in 2014 and 2015.

Some of the messages referenced Paltrow's death and others expressed Soiu's desire to marry the Oscar-winning actress.

He was sent to a mental institution for several years after sending Paltrow pornographic messages and sex toys and trying to meet her in person in 1999 and 2000.

Soiu said he kept writing to Paltrow because he wanted forgiveness for his earlier messages.

The actress testified she was afraid of Soiu and she feared for her children's safety.
