Jack Carter, brash comic, dies at 93

LOS ANGELES (AP) - His publicist says comedian Jack Carter died of respiratory failure over the weekend at his Beverly Hills home.

Carter, who turned 93 just four days before his death, was a brash, caustic comic who became a star in early television and sustained a career of more than a half-century in TV, nightclubs, movies and on stage.

Throughout his career, Carter remained the attacker, poking fun at members of the audience, disparaging politicians and celebrities.

He died Sunday and is survived by Roxanne, his wife of 44 years, two sons and a daughter.
