Knoxville animal shelters are celebrating National Dog Day on Friday with adoption deals and education about local animals in need.
Young-Williams Animal Center began offering National Dog Day adoption specials on Monday, and they will continue through Friday. During the special, senior dogs are free; adult dogs (from 6 months old-6 years old) are $25, and puppies cost $150.
The reduced fees include everything a regular-priced adoption fee would cover including a veterinary exam, spay/neuter surgery, some standard vaccinations, a microchip and registration and more, according to a release from Young-Williams.
Young-Williams Animal Center is located at 3201 Division St. For more information, call 865-215-6599 or visit http://www.young-williams.org/.
The Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley will visit the University of Tennessee women's soccer game at 7 p.m. Thursday at Regal Soccer Stadium to help educate attendees about adopting pets and local shelters.
HSTV also sent out a list of ways to celebrate National Dog Day by helping local shelters and animals in need. They include adopting a new furry friend, sponsoring an adoption fee for a pet, volunteering at local shelters and donating food, toys and supplies to local shelters and animal rescues, according to a release from HSTV.
HSTV is located at 6717 Kingston Pike. For more information, call 865-573-9675 or visit http://humanesocietytennessee.com/.
