COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The long-time female companion of an ex-fugitive deep-sea treasure hunter has been sentenced to a month behind bars.
Alison Antekeier (an-tuh-KEER') was apprehended in January at a hotel where she and companion Tommy Thompson were living near Boca Raton, Florida.
Thompson went missing three years ago amid demands he appear in court to account for missing gold coins and other assets taken after the discovery of an historic shipwreck.
Federal Judge Algenon Marbley sentenced the 47-year-old Antekeier on Friday following her guilty plea to one count of contempt of court earlier this year.
Antekeier's lawyer argued for probation, but Marbley said that wasn't enough to send a message about the consequences of what she did.
Thompson's sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 29.
