Girls Leadership Academy names new executive director

The city's all-girls charter school, Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy, has a new executive director, officials announced Monday.

After a 16-month nationwide search, an eight-member committee whittled down 70 applicants and hired Anita Bordeaux, who has worked as an administrator and teacher coach in public charter schools in Atlanta, New York City, Milwaukee and Washington, D.C.

Ms. Bordeaux assumed her position April 1 and formally met CGLA students Monday, following the school's spring break.

Interim co-directors Maxine Bailey and Julie Davidson will resume their roles as executive director of the Young Women's Leadership Academy Foundation, CGLA's fundraising arm, and CGLA's dean of faculty, respectively.
