Woman killed in motorcycle accident

Teresa Kelsey, of McDonald, Tenn., died from critical injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon on Lee Highway, according to Hamilton County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson.

The driver of a 2000 Jeep Cherokee was traveling west in the 10000 block of Lee Highway and saw a blue vehicle traveling east in the westbound traffic lane, Ms. Atkinson said.

To avoid the driver approaching from the wrong direction, the driver of the Jeep, Jerry Bowman, 67, of Rossville, swerved off the road into a ditch before losing control of the vehicle and hitting a Suzuki motorcycle that was traveling east. The accident was reported about 3:20 p.m., Ms. Atkinson said.

Ms. Kelsey, who was on the motorcycle, was taken to Erlanger hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival, Ms. Atkinson said.

The blue vehicle was described as either a Chrysler PT Cruiser or a Chevrolet HHR.

The investigation is ongoing, Ms. Atkinson said.
