A woman who had $950 stolen by an unknown suspect after she accidentally dropped the money will have a Merry Christmas after a Chattanooga dentist replaced the lost cash.

After seeing an interview with victim Sharon Herrera on WRCB-TV, Dr. Stephen Sims of Chattanooga Family Dentistry on Brainerd Road contacted the Dalton Police Department and offered to replace the money, according to a news release.

Herrera dropped the envelope with $950 when she stopped to get gas at the Walnut Express gas station at 2524 East Walnut Avenue, police said. After she drove away, an unidentified man was videotaped by surveillance cameras picking up the envelope on his way into the store. He paid for his gas and then drove away.

Police are still searching for the suspect, who was wearing a toboggan hat and a heavy dark-colored jacket with white stripes across the shoulders and blue jeans. He was driving a light blue late '80s or early '90s model Toyota Camry or Corolla.

Anyone with information on this incident or the identity of the man is asked to please contact Officer Will Bryan at 706-278-9085, extension 255.
