Chattanooga firefighters were on the job this morning cleaning up a train derailment by Cummings Highway that resulted in a punctured propane tank. Authorities said Ochs, Scenic and Cummings highways are all closed.

According to Chattanooga Fire Department spokesman Bruce Garner, the Norfolk Southern train derailed just after 11:00 p.m. He said a portion of Cummings Highway has been closed it would take two or three days for crews to clean up the accident.

Crews have patched a small leak in a 1,000 propane tank, which fuels a "switch heater" on the track, Mr. Garner said. A private contractor will burn off the remaining propane, he said.

The cause of the derailment is under investigation, Mr. Garner said.
