East Tennessee soldier dies in Afghanistan

KNOXVILLE - An East Tennessee soldier has died in Afghanistan.

Army Spc. Nathan E. Lillard was serving with the 101st Airborne Division. His uncle, Chuck Lillard of Athens, Tenn., said he didn't know the details of his nephew's death.

The soldier's body was returned this morning to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. Lillard's mother has gone to claim it, the uncle said.

The U.S. Department of Defense has given no details on Lillard's death, including whether it was combat-related.
