Police investigate fatal shooting

A Pawnee Trail man was shot to death Friday night while sitting outside his home, Chattanooga police said Saturday.

JerMichael Richardson, 22, died at Erlanger hospital after the 8 p.m. shooting, police spokeswoman Jerri Weary said in a news release.

She said witnesses told police three men came up to Richardson and there was a confrontation that ended in the shooting.

While officers were investigating, dispatchers received 911 calls for shots fired at 4800 Tomahawk Trail and 900 Woodvale Ave. Woodvale crosses Pawnee, and Tomahawk is the next street to the south. The neighborhood is off North Moore Road south of Brainerd High School.

Weary said police arrested two men in the Tomahawk Trail incident.

Darrell Armstrong, 24, of 1621 Oak St., and Dominique Brown, 18, of 4905 14th Ave., were charged with possession of a firearm while in the commission of a felony and criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.

A third person at Tomahawk Trail fled on foot.

Officers found two assault rifles inside a vehicle when Armstrong and Brown were taken into custody.

Police didn't say whether the incidents were related but said the investigation continues.
