Police sweep gang members up following weekend shootings

More than 65 police with local and federal agencies are searching out known gang members in a sweep dubbed 'Operation Gangsgiving.'

"We have every aim to stop this violence which seems to be happening for no other reason than they just don't like each other," said Capt. David Woosley, head of the major crimes division for Chattanooga police.

Hamilton County Sheriff's deputies and agents with the local office of the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are involved in the operation.

The operation will focus on known gang members, especially those with active arrest warrants and those on probation, Woosley said.

"If your organization has shown a propensity for violence against the community or toward police, expect a visit today," he said.
