DeKalb County sheriff's deputy arrested

A DeKalb county sheriff's deputy was arrested for an incident last year where he allegedly was involved in a fight.

Jeffery Bain Jr., a sheriff's deputy, and Jacob Bain, 20, were arrested for assault 3rd degree after Cherokee County Circuit Clerk Dwayne Amos issued their warrants, according to a news release.

The incident occurred Oct. 13, 2009, when several people say a fight broke out at County Road 954 and both Bains were involved, said Sheriff Jimmy Harris in the release.

Both men turned themselves in and were arrested and later made bond last year, Harris said.

Jeffery Bain is now on leave until this case is complete, he said.
