Woman arrested for arson in domestic dispute

Chattanooga fire investigators have arrested a 27-year-old woman for setting a fire in front of her boyfriend's apartment door.

Latonya Ballanger got into an argument with Dexter Jones Friday night, according to investigators.

Witnessess told Lt. Anthony Moore that Ballanger grabbed some of Jones' clothes, walked by them and said "I'm getting ready to burn his ---- up," according to a fire department release.

She then walked around the corner, out of view, came back to her car where her 11-year-old daughter was waiting and drove away.

Firefighters arrived to find a pile of clothes burning in front of Jones' apartment door at 32 Woodlawn Drive.

The fire was extinguished, exterior damage was minimal and no one was injured.

Ballanger, who faces other charges, denied setting the fire.
