Court date set in Chattanooga slaying

A man accused of killing a 49-year-old Chattanooga resident as he sat on his front porch in March will make his next appearance in Hamilton County Criminal Court on Sept. 8.

Kadeem Pratt, 21, was slated to have a hearing before Criminal Court Judge Rebecca Stern on Wednesday, but the attorneys have been granted more time to prepare for the case.

Pratt is accused of shooting and killing Robert Moore on March 15 in the 2000 block of East 14th Street.

According to witness reports, two people approached Moore on foot, firing several rounds at him before fleeing to an awaiting Lincoln Mercury.

The car matches the description of one Pratt was driving, and police said they discovered a rifle and ammunition inside the car. Pratt has denied shooting anyone.
