Chattanooga police seek rape suspect

A man wanted for questioning in a statutory rape case is the subject of this weekend's Crime Stoppers.

Chattanooga police said a juvenile runaway was picked up April 11 in the Alton Park area and taken to the King's Lodge in Chattanooga. The juvenile reported being raped by a man with black-and-gray hair in braids and closely trimmed facial hair.

Police are looking for Anthony Lee Smith, also known as "Funeral Home," in connection with the case. Smith also has active warrants for two counts of theft under $500, one count of theft over $1,000 and vandalism, according to a news release.

Smith, 45, is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and 190 pounds. His last known address is 4115 Tennessee Ave., and he frequents Alton Park.

Anyone with information leading to Smith's arrest could be eligible for a confidential cash reward up to $1,000. Call 423-698-3333.
