The criminal case against the son of the Catoosa County sheriff has been moved back two weeks.
Jeremy Phillips Summers, 28, was in Hamilton County Criminal Court on Monday after he failed to appear in court last month on charges he received in 2010.
Hamilton County Executive Assistant District Attorney Neal Pinkston asked Judge Barry Steelman to move the case to Aug. 23.
"We feel if we move it to two weeks, we can reach a resolution," Pinkston said.
Summers was arrested July 29 on a charge of failing to appear.
Pinkston also asked Steelman to keep Summers in jail with no bond because Summers left a drug treatment center. Summers is in the Hamilton County Jail on a $7,500 bond.
Summers, the son of Catoosa County Sheriff Phil Summers, has been arrested at least five times in Tennessee, records show.
The most-recent charges against him - and the ones he failed to appear for in court - came in October 2010 when he dialed 911 and said a shooter was on the loose in downtown Chattanooga, according to police.
When officers responded, several with drawn rifles, they discovered Jeremy Summers had made a prank call. He was charged with making false reports, 911 violation, criminal impersonation and public intoxication, court records show.
He also has been charged with multiple DUIs and in 2006 with burglary of an auto and vandalism, records show.
