A man convicted in the shooting death of a Chattanooga Police Department officer in 2002 was denied a second appeal related to the case Wednesday before the Court of Criminal Appeals in Knoxville.

Isaac Jones III, who was convicted in the killing of Officer Julie Jacks, argued that his attorney failed to let him testify at his trial or object to the claim that he had molested his cousin.

Jacks, court records say, was trying to arrest Jones when he took her gun and shot her seven or eight times before slipping the gun into a sewer.

Jones will continue serving the 25-year sentence given in 2002.
