Police seeking information in Dalton theater burglary

A burglary at the Carmike Cinemas theater in Dalton, Ga., has prompted police to ask for help from the public.

The incident occurred Tuesday at about 4 a.m. at the theater at 875 Walnut Square Blvd., according to a Dalton Police Department news release.

An employee cleaning the theater reported hearing banging sounds coming from the back of the building near the office, the release states. She then called another employee headed to the theater and when he arrived they investigated.

The workers found holes knocked in the wall behind the concessions area and heard more banging coming from the office area. When they unlocked it they found holes in the Sheetrock wall and dust in the air, according to the release. The employees then went into the adjoining theater to find the carpet on the wall peeled back and holes in the wall. They called 911.

Police officers who responded searched and determined the theater was empty. They found pry marks on an exit door where someone apparently used a tool to pry the doors open and enter, the news release states. Theater managers said nothing seemed to be missing from the office.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call detective Ricky Long with the Dalton Police Department at 706-278-9085, extension 168.
