Woman charged in razor slashing
A 22-year-old woman is scheduled to go before a judge on Valentine's Day after she was arrested for reportedly slashing her fiance's face with an eyebrow razor, according to an arrest report.
Markeisha McCauley, of Chattanooga, was arrested on a warrant Thursday for first-degree attempted murder by U.S. marshals and local authorities, according to an arrest report.
Her fiance showed up at Erlanger hospital in October with a long cut from his left cheek to his neck and a deep gash to his forearm.
He said McCauley swung a blade from an eyebrow razor at his face and neck after she found he had another girl's phone number, according to the report.
The man told police he held his arms up to defend himself.
McCauley is scheduled to appear before General Sessions Judge Robert L. Moon Jr.
Local man faces assault charges
A Chattanooga man is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 14 on vandalism and six aggravated assault charges after his girlfriend told police he intentionally rammed his vehicle into the truck she was driving that carried five minors.
Terry Lebron Harris, 35, of 2822 Fourth Ave., left the scene of the Dec. 11 argument that led to the confrontation, but was arrested by Chattanooga police Thursday, according to an arrest report.
The girlfriend told police she was at Harris' home when the two began arguing. When the girlfriend tried to leave, Harris drove his vehicle into hers, according to the report. The girlfriend's three children and two other minors were in the truck.
Harris was in jail Friday night with bail set at $13,500 and will appear in General Sessions Court.
Couple hit by car; woman charged
A woman turned herself in Thursday after being accused of hitting a couple with her car at Lookout Valley Elementary School last week, police say.
Michelle L. Crane, 27, faces two counts of aggravated assault and one count of assault. According to a police report, she is alleged to have punched Heather Riley in the face, then struck Riley and Jim Freeman with the front of her silver sport utility vehicle.
Crane's attorney, Jason D. Demastus, said she is "an upstanding citizen of this community" and is "innocent of the false and contrived allegations levied against her."
Police were called to Erlanger hospital, where Riley and Freeman, who are married, were being treated -- Riley for an injured foot and Freeman for an injured hand, the report said.
Riley told police she had gotten a text message Jan. 29 that a relative was intoxicated and needed a ride from the school's parking lot at 701 Browns Ferry Road.
When the couple arrived, Crane argued with Riley and Freeman, saying the intoxicated family member was coming with her, the report stated. The relationship among Crane, Riley and Freeman is unclear.
The report said Crane struck Riley and then got into the SUV, which she used to hit.
Crane posted a $12,500 bond, according to jail records, and her next court date is slated for Feb. 17.
Fire destroys house, car
A home at 3710 Chief Van Lane was destroyed in an early morning fire Thursday, according to the Chattanooga Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived at and found most of the home was already engulfed in flames.
No one was home and no injuries were reported. A car also was burned.
Investigators believe the fire started in the garage but the cause is unclear.
The case remains under investigation.
