The Georgia Judicial Qualifications Commission filed formal charges today against a Catoosa County magistrate.

Judge Anthony Peters is under investigation for several charges of misconduct, including pointing a gun at himself and threatening another judge, and manipulating his position, a formal complaint filed by the commission stated.

He also is accused of using marijuana, the complaint stated.

Peters is accused of 13 violations of the judicial code.

The document, filed with the Georgia Supreme Court, gives Peters 30 days from receiving the document to respond.

Peters was hauled out of the Catoosa County courthouse in handcuffs in July after he and his boss, Chief Magistrate Donald "Sonny" Caldwell, got into a heated argument. He has not returned to work since.
