Man accused of shooting at teens

A man faces assault charges after two 15-year-old girls said he shot at them Saturday night, according to court documents.

Tavorous Thompson, 18, has been charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment of children after one of the girls told police he attacked her and her friend while they were walking down East 49th Street.

She said Thompson first attempted to flirt with her friend. She told Thompson he was too old to be flirting with a 15-year-old. Thompson drew a pistol and fired three shots at the girls, one of them told police. Both girls reported they heard bullets whiz by their heads, the affidavit states.

Thompson then came to the restaurant where one of the 15-year-old's mother worked, told her that he had shot at her daughter and walked out, the affidavit states. The mother called police, and led them to the area her daughter said the incident had occurred outside Thompson's family home on 39th Street.

Police questioned Thompson's brother, who said he had heard shots outside the home earlier in the evening and had gone outside to find his brother in an argument with the girls, pointing a pistol at them.

Police got permission from Thompson's mother to search the home and found several boxes of ammunition.

After learning that Thompson and his mother had gone to his uncle's residence to hide firearms, police searched that residence and found three loaded guns.

Father charged in kidnapping

An East Ridge man is being held in Dade County, Ga., on kidnapping and aggravated assault charges back home, police said.

Sarah Foster told officers Sunday that a court had awarded her temporary custody of her nephew. The 18-month-old boy's father, Adam Foster, became angry when he found out, according to a news release from Officer Erik Hopkins, spokesman for the East Ridge Police Department.

At a home at 526 S. Seminole Drive, Adam Foster, 25, went to the child's crib, grabbed the child and began to leave, Hopkins said.

Several people at the residence pleaded with him to leave the child, but he "pushed his way to his vehicle," backed out of the driveway and nearly hit Sarah Foster before fleeing, Hopkins said.

Police issued an Amber alert for Adam Foster. Officers later contacted him by phone, learning that he had gone to his father's home in Dade County.

An East Ridge patrol officer convinced Foster to surrender, Hopkins said. Dade County deputies found the child with his father, he said.

Foster is being held at the Dade County Jail until he is extradited to Tennessee, Hopkins said.
