A diabetic Alzheimer's patient who went missing Saturday morning from his Middle Valley home was found early Sunday in Sequatchie County, authorities said.

A Sequatchie County deputy found David Vandergriff, 75, on Taft Highway about 12:30 a.m., according to Hamilton County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson.

She said Vandergriff was given a medical check and taken home.

His family reported him missing about 11:30 a.m. Saturday. He had left home about 8 a.m. to return a chainsaw to a friend, but the friend said Vandergriff had not been there.
